Tour of the Water Park

Before you head out, we recommend bringing a change of clothes, as it’s very likely you’ll end up soaked at the circuit. That’s all part of the fun and the thrilling experience you’ll have on the Water Park Tour, which you’ll reach in a comfortable tourist vehicle.

The distance from central Miraflores to your destination in downtown Lima is about 8 kilometres. Depending on traffic (keep in mind that you’ll be travelling during peak hours), the journey takes around 30 to 40 minutes. The entire route is along main and busy roads.

Make the most of the ride to take in the sights of Lima’s evening atmosphere. Don’t worry if traffic is heavy; you’ll still make it to the Magic Fountains of the Parque de la Reserva in time. This 135,000-square-metre green oasis will impress you with its art deco design, monuments, and topiary art.

The Park of the Reserve

History and technology meet and harmonise in the Magic Water Circuit. The Parque de la Reserva, inaugurated on 19th February 1929, is a traditional site that pays tribute to the brave souls who gave their lives in the defence of Lima during the Pacific War, when the city was captured by the Chilean army in 1881.

During the conflict, this area of the capital was used as a military garrison. In the 20th century, as the capital underwent modernisation, construction of the park began in 1926, marking it as the largest urban project of the time. One of the park’s innovations was the inclusion of Andean ornamental motifs.

Declared a Cultural Heritage site of the Andean Region, the park features monuments to Marshal José Antonio de Sucre, victor of the Battle of Ayacucho, and Fermín Tangüis, a key figure in the development of the cotton industry. It also houses the Casa Sabogal, a space for popular art, woodcut printing, and mural painting.

But the main point of interest is the gallery or Italian-influenced portico known as the Logia. Designed by architect Claudio Sahut, it is “the central architectural element that frames the design of the Parque de la Reserva and the 80-metre-high Magic Fountain,” as stated on the official circuit website.

The Magic of Water

On 26th July 2007 — two days before Peru’s Independence Day — the Magic Water Circuit was inaugurated. Since then, this route of playful water fountains has become one of the city’s top attractions, as you’ll experience during the Water Park Tour.

Prepare to be dazzled by the 13 cybernetic fountains that are part of a circuit which enhances the architectural beauty and cultural legacy of a nearly century-old park. This park “rejuvenates” every night with the spectacular water show and the presence of enthusiastic visitors.

The star of the show is the performance at the Fantasy Fountain. In this pool, which is 120 metres long and more than 20 metres wide, the water surface transforms into a massive screen, where various images of Peru’s rich cultural heritage are projected. All of this is accompanied by music, laser beams, and multicoloured lights.

In addition to the cybernetic fountains, there are ornamental pools such as: Los Ñocos, La Indigenita, La Sevillana, La Logia, and the one known as the entrance fountain to the park. Carved from stone, this is one of the original constructions that have been preserved in this iconic space of Peru’s capital.

The Return

After exploring the fountains and other attractions of the Parque de la Reserva, it’s time to head back to your hotel in Miraflores. Just like on the way there, you’ll be transported in a tourist vehicle for your comfort and safety. Remember, the Water Park Tour lasts approximately three hours.

If you’re not staying in Miraflores, we’ll drop you off in a safe area of that district (previously arranged), so you can continue enjoying your experience and exploring Lima and other destinations in the country with us.

Are the visit times to the attractions punctual?

No, all visit times are approximate, as they depend heavily on road traffic, visitors’ physical condition, and the weather. If you book a private tour, the times listed in the tour description are generally followed more closely.

Where do I buy tickets to enter the attraction?

All entry tickets are purchased at the attraction’s gate on the day of the tour—just make sure to bring cash in Peruvian soles.

What are the differences between shared and private tours?

On a shared tour, you will join other tourists, with the group size typically averaging 20 people. The pick-up of tourists from the historic centre of Lima can take 30 to 40 minutes, and the guided tour is conducted in both Spanish and English.

However, if you book a private tour, it will be just for you and your travel companions (with no strangers). The pick-up will be very punctual, and once we pick you up from your hotel, we will immediately depart for the destination. The guided tour will be exclusively in either English or Spanish.

Do you have guaranteed departures every day?

Yes, we depart every day, but to ensure your spot on the bus, we recommend booking in advance.

Can I cancel the tour?

You can always cancel the tour, but there will be no refund unless you cancel at least 48 hours in advance.

How do refunds work?

You can request a refund as long as you cancel the tour 48 hours in advance.

When issuing a refund, we will deduct 5% of the total amount paid, as this is the commission charged by banks and PayPal for processing the transaction. Additionally, we do not cover the money transfer fee when issuing the refund.
