Itinerary
🔥Please note that the attractions on this free tour will be viewed from the outside, except for a few, so you won’t need any entry tickets.
The meeting point for this tour is the historic Gran Hotel Bolívar, located right on San Martín Square. Your adventure begins by admiring the façade of this hotel, inaugurated in 1924, an icon of Lima’s early 20th-century modernity. Inside, it hosted great personalities such as Ava Gardner, Mick Jagger and Cantinflas, and it is famous for its legendary Pisco Sour Catedral – distinguished by its impressive size, served in a Hurricane glass with double the ingredients of a traditional Pisco Sour. From the very start, you’ll feel how Lima blends tradition, elegance and urban life.
Just a few steps away, you’ll discover the majestic San Martín Square, inaugurated in 1921 to commemorate one hundred years of Peru’s independence. At its centre stands the equestrian statue of José de San Martín, the country’s Liberator, surrounded by neocolonial and republican-style buildings that marked Lima’s path towards modernisation. This square is not only a historical landmark, but also a lively gathering place where celebrations, protests and cultural events bring the city to life.
