In this remarkable landscape, <strong>25 associated urban centres have been identified<\/strong>. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zonacaral.gob.pe\/ruta-caral\/aspero.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">\u00c1spero<\/a> (at km 191 of the Pan-American Highway North, in the province of Barranca), a fishing settlement with <strong>seven stepped pyramidal structures<\/strong>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zonacaral.gob.pe\/ruta-caral\/penico.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Pe\u00f1ico<\/a> (34 km from Caral, also in Barranca), where Andean and coastal peoples once met and exchanged, are part of<strong> a monumental legacy that will truly amaze you<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The route also includes <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zonacaral.gob.pe\/ruta-caral\/vichama.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">the agro-fishing city of Vichama<\/a> (in the district of V\u00e9gueta, province of Huaura) \u2014 <strong>a place blessed with fertile seas<\/strong> and productive valleys, just 162 km north of Lima. Here, <strong>five imposing pyramidal buildings<\/strong> reveal the grandeur of a culture whose discovery reshaped our understanding of Andean development. In this <strong>lively seaside spot<\/strong>, you\u2019ll find <strong>the Eco Truly Park \u2014 a self-sustaining Krishna community<\/strong> where peace and spirituality fill the air.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With that same feeling of harmony and calm, you\u2019ll reach <a href=\"https:\/\/consultasenlinea.mincetur.gob.pe\/fichaInventario\/index.aspx?cod_Ficha=2059\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">El Para\u00edso<\/a> \u2014 and no, <strong>it\u2019s not Adam and Eve\u2019s Eden<\/strong>, but one of the most popular coastal destinations in <strong>Huacho, the capital of Huaura province<\/strong> (around km 135 of the Pan-American Highway). When it\u2019s time to eat, make sure to order <a href=\"https:\/\/andina.pe\/agencia\/noticia-tacu-tacu-disfruta-del-embajador-culinario-barranca-y-sus-creativas-innovaciones-884215.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">a hearty tacu tacu<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Farewell to the north \u2014 time for a change of direction. Leave Lima city via the Pan-American Highway South towards the province of Ca\u00f1ete, where <strong>you can surf and go birdwatching at Puerto Viejo<\/strong> (km 70); enjoy the <strong>modern seaside resort of Asia<\/strong> (km 100); and <strong>buy fresh fish<\/strong> straight from the small <a href=\"https:\/\/consultasenlinea.mincetur.gob.pe\/fichaInventario\/index.aspx?cod_Ficha=3495\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">pier at Cerro Azul<\/a> (km 131). The city itself lies on the coast, but the region is home to <strong>places thousands of metres above sea level<\/strong> \u2014 perfect for <strong>hiking along mountain slopes<\/strong>, cycling on narrow, dusty trails, camping beside tranquil lagoons, and even taking part in traditional <strong>earth-offering ceremonies<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>This is the highland side of Lima<\/strong> \u2014 where you might feel the effects of altitude, where ichu grass covers the hills and hail sometimes falls, where offerings are made to the Pachamama (Mother Earth) and the <a href=\"https:\/\/freewalkingtourcusco.org\/en\/peru-the-country-of-the-apus-sacred-mountains\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Apus<\/a> (sacred mountain spirits) of the <a href=\"https:\/\/freewalkingtourslima.org\/en\/lima-get-closer-to-the-snow-in-the-cordillera-la-viuda\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">La Viuda<\/a> (in the province of Canta), Raura (Oy\u00f3n) and Huayhuash (Cajatambo) ranges \u2014 the last of which is shared with the regions of \u00c1ncash and Hu\u00e1nuco. <strong>Their trails form part of one of the most famous trekking routes in the world.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Huayhuash is<\/strong> both a <strong>dream<\/strong> and a challenge for mountain and trekking enthusiasts \u2014 long, demanding journeys through wild, <strong>uninhabited territory<\/strong>.
